Mit F-Zero 99 erschien am 14. September 2023 nach einer im Westen rund 20 Jahre währenden Pause ein neuer Titel der Future Racer-Reihe, die bekannt ist für absurde Geschwindigkeiten, bockschwere Strecken und gnadenlose K.Os!

F-Zero 99 ist Teil von Nintendo Switch Online (NSO), kann mit dem Abo also "kostenlos" gespielt werden. Es handelt sich dabei um ein Online-Spiel der typischen Battle Royale-Variante wie wir sie mit Pac Man 99, Tetris 99 und Co schon öfter hatten und haben. Grafisch sowie musikalisch orientiert man sich am SNES-Originalund auch die Strecken sind vom Original geborgen.

Gleiter gibt es die aus dem Original: Blue Falcon (Captain Falcon), Golden Fox (Dr. Stewart), Wild Goose (Pico) und Fire Stingray (Samurai Goroh). Da es in F-Zero 99 aber ein Levelsystem gibt, kann man einige Sachen freischalten, um die Gleiter zu individualisieren (Farbe, Decal, Booster-Farbe etc.) und auch die Pilotenkarte lässt sich etwas gestalten (Rahmen, Position des Gleiters).

Die werden den Rivalen angezeigt. Das Rivalen-System pickt immer Leute raus, die einen ähnlichen Skill-Level haben. Die zu besiegen, motiviert ungemein, auch weil das einzige Ziel dann nicht nur ist, zu gewinnen.

Persönlich finde ich F-Zero 99 für das, was es ist, überraschend gut. Es entfaltet eine ziemliche Sogwirkung und macht Spaß. Mehr zu meinen Eindrücken hier (ey mit der Verlinkung muss man jetzt leben, hab das halt nur copy pasted! ).

Ich zock das Spiel immer noch aktiv und besonders mit anderen zusammen macht es mega viel Spaß. Man kann zwar keine Gruppen bilden, aber durch Absprachen anhand des Timers ist das Zusammenspielen trotzdem möglich. Dazu kann ich nur das wunderbare F-Zero Discord empfehlen, das sich recht schnell ergoogeln lässt. Und ja, ich weiß, dass das Eröffnen dieses Threads nahezu komplett sinnlos ist, weil schon im anderen Forum, in dem es das Thema gibt, nur 2 Leute ab und zu mal was schreiben und ich hier wahrscheinlich werde Selbstgespräche führen müssen , but I do it for the Meme!

Aber in diesem Thread soll es nicht nur um F-Zero 99 gehen, sondern um das gesamte Franchise an sich!

• Welches F-Zero ist euer Lieblingsteil und warum ist es F-Zero GX? (Meiner auf jeden Fall GX)
• Mögt ihr den SNES/GBA-Stil oder den N64/GC-Stil mehr? (Ich bevorzuge die X/GX-Art schon sehr. Bin mit dem Maximum Velocity irgendwie nicht so recht warm geworden, muss ich nochmal eine Chance geben!)
• Habt ihr Lieblingsstrecken? (Ich wähle Sand Ocean Lateral Shift aus GX)
• Lieblingssongs? (Night of Big Blue und viele mehr)
• Hat sich vielleicht jemand mit den restlichen F-Zero-Medien wie etwa Anime o.ä. beschäftigt? (Ich nicht.)

Aus Meme-Gründen hole ich diesen Thread hervor! Von Spielen wie Counter-Strike wissen wir bereits, dass 1.6 die beste Version ist.

Nun ist F-Zero 99 1.6.0 erschienen. Der Ace-Cup bekommt seine Mirror-Varianten, ein neuer (zeitlich begrenzter) Modus ab 5. Mai (Event von einer Woche).

New Additions

• Five Mirror tracks from the Ace League have been added.
  • Mirror tracks will appear in F-ZERO 99 races as well as Pro Tracks, Team Battle, Mini Prix, Mirror Grand Prix, and Mini World Tour game modes.
  • The usual tracks are flipped horizontally, and tracks where the gimmicks are rearranged will appear.
• Five Classic tracks have been added to the Ace League.
  • These Classic tracks have been modified from F-ZERO 99 tracks in places to bring them closer to the track layouts from the BS F-ZERO GRAND PRIX Ace League.
  • Classic tracks appear in both Classic and Classic Mini Prix game modes.
• Added Mini World Tour, a special event where pilots compete in seven consecutive races to compete for the top rank. The first Mini World Tour will be held on May 5.
  • The Mini World Tour is a special event that will be held at regular intervals. The event will last for one week.
  • The Mini World Tour is a series of seven races with each race consisting of three laps. The rules are based on a score system in which the rankings are determined by the total points awarded for each lap, the number of KOs, and the number of Gem Sparks collected during the three laps of the race.
  • In Mini World Tour, the more players there are in the lobby, the more potential points players can earn during the race.
  • During Mini World Tour races, a Mini World Tour tab will be displayed on the weekly leaderboard.
  • A Mini World Tour category has been added to Prix under Records in the Workshop. This will be displayed while the Mini World Tour is being held and will remain displayed if a record is set.
  • A player ranking in 999th place or above in the Mini World Tour weekly ranking will get a special badge. Mini World Tours will be held regularly, but this badge can only be obtained once during times when the event is live.
• Two types of decals and 15 color variations have been added for each of the BLUE THUNDER, LUNA BOMBER, GREEN AMAZON, and FIRE SCORPION machines. These can be used for customization when certain conditions are met.
  • You can check the specified conditions and perform customization by selecting Workshop from the Main Menu.
• New backdrops, badges, and borders have been added for Pilot Card customization. All of these can be unlocked when certain conditions are met.

Other Adjustments and Changes

• Changed the conditions for obtaining the black machine color to finishing in 1st in any of the following: F-ZERO 99, Pro Tracks, Grand Prix, or Mini Prix races.
  • The color cannot be obtained by placing 1st in Team Battle, Classic races, or World Tour races.
  • If conditions have been met with save data from Ver. 1.5.6 or prior, then the color will be obtained when the game is updated to Ver. 1.6.0.
• The amount of Power Meter increase when you KO another machine will decrease with each KO after the first one. The advantage gained by getting many KOs early on in the World Tour and Grand Prix has been rebalanced. The maximum Power Meter value from stacking KOs remains at 200%, the same as before.
• The BLUE FALCON and GOLDEN FOX machines have been adjusted as they tend to keep getting knocked away by other machines and lose more power than desired in crowded situations.
• SILENCE, WHITE LAND II, and FIRE FIELD will appear as course candidates for Classic races.

• Fixed issues to make for a more pleasant gaming experience.

All Machines	The amount of Super Sparks required to trigger the Super Boost has been slightly reduced. Increased the minimum amount of time to be on the Skyway from four seconds to five seconds. Increased speed when traveling on the Skyway without touching the wall and when using the Skyway dash plate. Adjusted the amount of increase in the Power Meter when scoring a KO against another machine.
BLUE FALCON	Reduced the amount of repulsion when colliding with other machines.
GOLDEN FOX	Reduced the amount of damage received and slightly reduced the amount of repulsion when colliding with other machines.

Die enormen Buffs für die Skylane haben die wohl wegen der schwindenden Spielerzahl gemacht, definitiv fragwürdige Änderungen ... mal sehen!

Das Spiel bekommt immer noch Updates (das letzte Update war allerdings im April, schon was her).

Klar, nichts weltbwegendes, aber immerhin wird der sehr treuen Spielerbasis immer auch was für den High-Level-Bereich gegeben. Diesmal ist es ein neues Elite Leaderboard, das alle 3 Monate zurückgesetzt wird.

Spieler ab einem bestimmten Rang haben jetzt "Elite-Status", das heißt, zum gewöhnlichen Rivalen-System kommt was hinzu: Befinden sich unter den Rivalen andere Elite-Spieler, zählt das eigene Abschneiden gegen diese für das Elite Leaderboard und man sieht live nach dem Rennen die Veränderung der Platzierung.

3 weitere Remix-Strecken wurden hinzugefügt.

Wenn man sich anguckt, wo das Spiel mal gestartet ist (nur 5 Strecken) und wo es jetzt ist, dann kann ich das nur klasse finden.

New Additions

• The Frozen Tour Event will be held this year. All tracks in the game will be covered in snow and appear as frozen tracks. By collecting Gem Sparks that appear on the frozen tracks, players can get event-exclusive rewards.
  • The Frozen World Tour will also return during the event period. Earn points and aim for a high score in a series of nine three-lap races across various F-ZERO worlds.
  • Frozen World Tour high-score rankings will be added to the weekly leaderboard. This ranking will be reset every Sunday at 4:00 p.m. PST (00:00 UTC).
  • A player ranking in 999th place or higher in the Frozen World Tour’s weekly high-score ranking will get a special badge. (This badge features the same design as last year’s badge, and players who have already earned it are not eligible to earn another.)
  • The Frozen Tour Event and Frozen World Tour will be held from December 15, 2025, to January 19, 2026.
• Added Elite leaderboard. S20+ pilots will now appear on the Elite leaderboard and be globally ranked.You can select Leaderboard from the Main Menu and then toggle between the weekly leaderboard and Elite leaderboard.
  • The Elite leaderboard will be reset every three months (Feb. 1, May 1, Aug. 1, Nov. 1).
  • Once the Elite leaderboard is reset, you must complete at least one race to be placed on the Elite leaderboard.
• Added S50 Elite status for pilots who achieve S50.During the game, this status will be displayed as a Falcon emblem.
  • Global rankings for the S50 Elite can be viewed on the Elite leaderboard. The S50 Elite global rankings will also be displayed at the top of your Pilot Card and will be visible to other players at the start of races and to players spectating.
  • S50 Elite players compete for the top world rankings based on Elite points. Elite points are calculated based on the outcome of races against S50 Elite Rivals, and the S50 Elite world rankings will be determined based on these points.
  • Winning or losing races against Rivals at S49 or below or in Classic races will not affect Elite points.
  • When the Elite leaderboard is reset, S50 Elite and S49 players will be reset to their initial S49 skill ratings. S50 Elite players’ Elite points will also be reset.
  • If you reach S50 Elite again in a new season, you will be awarded 1,000 Elite points and placed on the Elite leaderboard.
• Added Lucky Tokens. Each Lucky Token allows you to play Lucky Ranks one time.
  • You'll earn one token per day, and up to six can be held for later use.
  • You can also unlock additional tokens from leveling up or when you didn’t match with tokens.
• Added three new Secret Tracks. They will occasionally appear in F-ZERO 99 and Mini Prix modes.
  • Increased the frequency with which Secret Tracks will appear.
• Added a music player.
  • Select Music Player from the Workshop menu to access it.
• Added backdrops that can be used to customize Pilot Cards and emotes that can be sent at specific points during races. After specified conditions are met, these can be used for customization.
  • Added 20 backdrops that can be obtained via Lucky Ranks.
  • Added eight emotes that can be acquired during the limited-time challenge.
  • To customize your Pilot Card or set emotes—or to see what conditions are required to obtain these items—select WORKSHOP from the Main Menu and then select PILOT CARDS or EMOTES.

Other Adjustments and Changes

• Adjusted the balance of skill rating gains and losses to help players reach higher ratings more quickly.
  • Increased points earned from defeating a Rival and decreased points lost from losing to all four Rivals.
• Added a World Tour tab to Records in the Workshop.
• The Mystery Rank in Lucky Ranks may now contain one Bounty Chip.
  • This gives players a chance to earn two Bounty Chips at once as a Lucky Ranks reward.
